Everyone at The Hope Street Centre is delighted to welcome on board therapist Catherine Burbridge. Catherine works as a Person Centred Counsellor and brings a wealth of experience in addiction counselling, and supporting those with post natal depression.

Catherine says: 'As a Person Centred counsellor, I believe passionately in people’s value and worthiness of attention.  The therapeutic relationship between counsellor and client forms the foundation of my work. From within the heart and soul of the relationship, clients can begin to flourish, enabling therapeutic change...

I work in a warm, caring and deeply empathic way. Focusing on the individual whose therapy should be as unique as their journey through life. Being person centred means I will not judge you with pre-conceived ideas or prejudice. I will accept you as you are in the moment, respecting, regarding and prizing.

I will help you work towards greater self- awareness, self- expression, well- being or recovery. You are your own best expert and given the right conditions and time you can become more resourceful and content with being you.

As well as working in private practice from The Hope Street Centre and rooms in Bramhall and Hazel Grove, Cheshire. I work for a leading North West charity providing person centred counselling, supporting clients alongside alcohol/ drug management or abstinence programs.

I find this work so rewarding and have seen incredible client journeys. I have built considerable experience working with high risk and complex cases. My case load can include working with abuse survivors, depression and other mental health issues, domestic violence, trauma, bereavement and loss.

Over the last 8 years I have been working with women and their families providing emotional support and later counselling for post natal depression and perinatal illness. I founded a support group and ran this for several years, sharing many difficult times with families affected by this illness. This remains a particular area of interest for me and I can offer one to one counselling, couple work and group work to support those affected by this range of illnesses.

I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) and abide by their ethical framework and procedures. I am registered on the Accredited Voluntary Register (certificate number 055126)I hold full insurance for my work and receive regular  supervision to enhance my practice.'
